We Are In Love...

Princess T has stolen our hearts! She is precious! Of course, 9 months is usually a fun time for babies anyway...so, we got her at a great time! She is playful, laughs, dances (while sitting), and babbles! She can't roll from front to back or back to front...she should be able to. And, she keeps pulling on her ears...which makes me think she is teething (which she is!) or she has an ear infection. Just keeping an eye on it. It is a vulnerable situation to try and parent a new baby in a foreign country! We are in a beautiful 5 star hotel in the middle of downtown Nanchung China...and we are surrounded by trash, dirt, and slums. I took a few pictures of our surroundings vs. the hotel to try and show everyone where we are! This is more of the "country" China...Beijing was the "city" China...there IS a difference! The food and smells were different in Beijing...they are REALLY different here! "Fungus soup" and "Pig hearts with Duck intestines" are a few of the items we have on our room service menu...DELISH! LOL! We are eating a lot of Peanut Butter that we brought from home! We went to the local Wal-mart today and bought baby food, bread, and chips...everything we have at home...but it is all in Chinese! The Wal-Mart is the same...but very different. They sell what we would consider "normal" items with Chinese labels and then "different" items...like fresh turtles, scorpions, and worms...once again, YUMMY! I should point out, however, that the Chinese people DO eat very healthy. The staple is vegetables, fruits, rice, and noodles for all three meals. They eat A LOT of veggies...they just aren't always the kind we eat!
We also went to 4 different Government agencies today. I wish I could name them all, but they all had a small part to do in the finalizing of our adoption of Taryn. In the eyes of China she is 100% our baby! We stay here until Friday to get her Visa. Friday we fly to Guangzhou China to complete the US part of the adoption...that takes another 5 days! It is a long process that will soon be over...Yeah!
We finally got to call the boys tonight (which is your day! Monday morning...). Wesley and Garrett wanted Taryn to "talk" to them...of course she wouldn't perform on demand so we said we would try to video tape her talking "performance". However, it seems we are running into some technical "difficulties" regarding the video! Some have seen it and some can't see it on the blog...don't know...can't explain it! Everything is upside down...we still can't get on our email. So, I hope everyone got to see the gotcha day video (even though I look like a blubbering idiot!), and we will try to post another...can't say it will work or not!
So, for now, we have been hanging out in our room since the business of this morning is over...it is getting kind of boring! There is only so much Chinese television one can watch! Hope everyone is well...We miss you Wesley and Garrett! Hang in there, your sister is coming home (along with your parents!) very soon.

  1. Hi, I came across your site while searching for people that are adopting from china. My best friend is in china now adopting. She wa supposed to have her Gotcha Day on the same day you did. She doesn't have a blog for me to follow though and so I have looked to others to see if I can get an idea of what she is going through. I will add a picture of myself today so you can see what I look like. :) Also, I have a blog if you want to visit. www.scrappinlisajo.typepad.com. I just didn't want you to be uncomfortable seeing a stranger visit. Thanks for your great website and blessings to you and your beautiful family. YOu all are in my prayers.

  3. Congrats!!! She is beautiful. From your pictures, your room looks to be about where our's was in May 2008. In fact, we were in China when Taryn was born. Our gotcha day was 5-21. We stayed on the 14th floor of the Galatic, right off the elevator to the right. We had a perfect view of the Civil Affairs office. Anyway, enjoy every single second of it, rainy or not! And, Guangzhou is fantastic, too! Again, congrats!
