Rainy Days in China

I am blogging early today because I am getting very stir crazy! It is "monsoon" season here in Nanchung...so it has rained every second that we have been here! It is also about 30-50 degrees...so, our time is limited outside of the hotel! Our China guide had stuff planned for us to do every day this week, and so far, we have only been able to do the "business" side of our trip and visiting places that are covered! Today we took the babies in the pouring rain to a place called "The Pavilion"...I still don't quiet know what it was all about...but we saw a really cool show and viewed some great Chinese Architecture...then, we went to yet another Chinese Restaurant. This one was interesting as you could pick your food from the many tanks surrounding the restaurant...we ate rice.
The Chinese people have been so gracious to us here. Really in Beijing as well...they are very curious and very much want to please us as their "visitors". It was funny today at the Pavilion...somehow Taryn and I turned into a picture show...there was a group of business men (tourists from somewhere else in China?) That all just started taking our picture! I was sitting with Taryn minding my own business...and, as if I was a "display" or something...they walked up and started shooting their cameras! It was hilarious in a way...I didn't know what to do, so I just sat there and let them do it! Steve wanted to charge them per picture...maybe help pay for the adoption...just kidding!
Speaking of kidding. Every time one of us in our group "jokes" around with our guide, Susan, we have to say "that was a joke..." because she doesn't know when we are joking or not! I didn't realize how sarcastic and full of "jokes" (for lack of a better term!) we Americans are until we have to say that after almost everything we say! It is all just SO DIFFERENT here!
Enjoy the pictures and the Video...it was our first attempt at getting Taryn to "perform" and it didn't go to well! She is just like every baby and doesn't "perform on demand"!

  1. Eva was laughing at Taryn and saying "dada" every time you did. Sooo cute! I like the way she shakes her head like she's saying "yes". Noticed the bow in her hair too!

  3. She is really cute!! We are also having freakishly rainy weather. We are supposed to be in the tropics!! Here's hoping for a warm Guangzhou. We don't leave until Saturday, but maybe we can try to meet for lunch one day. Lucy's is sounding good right about now!!
